Character Rubber Stamps

I love character rubber stamps - whether they feature a cutesy whimsical image or a more realistic portrait - I find them a versatile type of stamp and one that I often recommend to beginners. With a bit of creativity the same stamp can be adapted for use in so many different projects and are particularly good for making greeting cards. By simply adding a sentiment or some well placed embellishments, a simple character stamp can take on many guises. There are so many different types of character stamp available, however, that sometimes buying one can be surprisingly difficult (perhaps that should read buying just one!). Here are some tips to help choose the right character stamp:
  • Pick a stamp without a sentiment built into the design. This will allow you to add your own stamped sentiments and customize the design to different occasions.
  • Some character stamps need careful coloring in order to look great. If coloring isn't your thing, look for characters that aren't going to require too much detailed coloring.
  • Look for embellishments that can be added to a card made with a character stamp. These are a great way of adapting a single stamp and layout to achieve very different finished effects.
  • Pick a character that makes you smile - if the image on the stamp makes you smile it will be a pleasure to work with!
