Stampers' Sampler Magazine :
Every issue of the Stampers' Sampler is full of images and descriptions of original hand-stamped art work. The designs include cards, tags, gift wrap and many other innovative ideas which have all been created using stamped images in some form. The Stampers' Sampler is published by Stampington and Company. Besides publishing such magazines as Somerset Studio, Take Ten and Stampington Inspirations, Stampington and Company also manufacture a range of art stamps. The Stampers' Sampler magazine is published bimonthly and is available in stores as well as by subscription.
Content:
The Stampers' Sampler is a magazine that both inspires and informs. Each issue, the magazine features hand stamped artwork which has been submitted by readers, a guest artist or from the Artists on Call design team. Alongside each piece of artwork is a brief description of how it was made and the materials used to give readers just enough information to recreate the project at home, without providing illustrated step by step information. The content is broken down into themes which might include examples of seasonal projects, results of challenges or explorations of a technique.
Tempting Template:
A template is found in each issue of the Stampers' Sampler and readers are invited to take part in the Tempting Template challenge. The template can be reduced or enlarged from the magazine using a photocopier or it can be found on the Tempting Template page of the Stampers' Sampler magazine website (stampington.com). Readers who would like their work considered for publication should send in their artwork following the instructions. For more information take a look at the website. Examples of artwork using a previous template are published each issue and the templates for these can also be found on the website.
Other Information:
In addition to the illustrations of hand stamped artwork, the magazine also has information about new products related to stamping and details of other Stampington and Company magazines. One new section is the Deconstructed Stamping department that takes a piece of stamped artwork and breaks it down into component parts. The magazine is printed onto a high quality paper and the detail of the images is extremely good, meaning that readers can see the detail in different projects.
Who's It For?:
The Stampers' Sampler magazine is for stampers who are looking to push the boundaries of stamping and are excited by the prospect of exploring the craft further. The magazine is rich in inspiration and some of the ideas should provide plenty to whet the creative appetites of both experienced and novice stampers. The Stampers' Sampler will not give an absolute beginner the basic 'how to's' of rubber stamping (however there are plenty of books, magazines and websites - such About.com Rubber Stamping - that will provide the basics, although different techniques are explored in more detail in each issue.
Submissions:
One of the key focuses of the Stampers' Sampler magazine is reader submitted artwork and, as such, readers are absolutely encouraged to send in their creations for consideration. There are regular calls and challenges and full information about this can be found in the back of each issue of the magazine and on the 'Wanna Get Published' section of the website. International readers are welcome to submit their artwork and stamping artists from all over the world are regularly featured.
Multimedia:
The Stampers' Sampler magazine website is part of the large stampington.com website that contains not only information about other magazines in the group, but also other interesting and useful information such as a wide selection of templates, articles and examples of art work.
