This is a very simple technique, however is a great way to bring some extra color or texture to a project. By varying the colors of the paints and papers an almost limitless supply of unique papers can be created. For more information about bubble printed backgrounds, take a look at the How To article and for an example of a handmade card using this technique take a look at this Fish Card.

Materials Required
  • Tempera paint (or any water soluble paint)
  • Dish washing liquid
  • Drinking straws
  • Small bowl
  • Paper or cardstock
  • Old newspaper or cloth to cover work area[/ui] To Start
Gather materials together. Cover the work area well as this can be a messy activity! Dilute the paint with a little water in a small bowl. The paint should be runny, yet still give a strong color. Half a cup of diluted paint will be fine for this project. Add a squirt of dish washing liquid to the paint mix (this is not a precise technique - the amount of dish washing liquid will depend on the brand used and the desired finished effect).
