Special Days and Stamping Ideas For February

1st – National Freedom Day – Starting in 1948, this is a day dedicated to the celebration of freedom. Why not use your stamping skills to make some cards to raise awareness of the issues surrounding freedom or make some cards to sell for charities that promote the freedom cause. The website, Charity Navigator, has information about many different charities. See Tips to Sell Handmade Cards for more information about selling cards.
2nd – Candlemas – This ancient celebration marks the mid point between winter and spring. There are many traditions connected with the festival. The name comes from the fact that this was traditionally seen as the 'festival of candles'. Celebrate Candlemas by decorating your own candles or use our candle template to make your own candle foam stamps to use to make greeting cards.
2nd – Groundhog Day – If a groundhog sees his shadow on groundhog day then there will be another 6 weeks of winter. If he does not see his shadow, however, this popular legend states that the spring weather will be starting. Use this as an opportunity to start planning spring stamping projects.
3rd - Anniversary of the Death of Buddy Holly – Known as The Day the Music Died, this is the anniversary of the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. Mark the day with some rock and roll themed stamping projects.

Either way, combined with the Super Bowl, this is a great opportunity to make some pop corn using one of these popcorn treat recipes and packaging it in a cellophane bag with a rubber stamped bag topper.
