Mica Shift Pendant and Earrings

If you have made a sheet of Rubber stamp mica shift decorated polymer clay and are not sure what to do with it, then how about making it into some attractive pieces of jewelry. For a step by step guide to the mica shift technique see - Mica Shift with Polymer Clay and Rubber Stamps.

Materials Required

  • Sheet of polymer clay that has been prepared using the mica shift technique
  • A sheet of well conditioned polymer clay in a coordinating color, scrap polymer clay
  • Polymer clay tools
  • Craft wire and jewelry findings as required

Instructions

  • To make the pendant, take the scrap polymer clay and form this into the desired shape
  • Take the rubber stamp mica shift clay sheet and place this over the pendant shape, trimming it to fit
  • Put the pendant form on the complementary colored polymer clay and cut around it, press the base firmly to the pendant
  • Cut a thin strip of polymer clay and make a bezel to go around the edges of the pendant
  • Use a needle to make a hole through the pendant to thread the hanging wire - I made a hole from top to bottom to thread the wire through, however making a hole side to side might be easier
  • To make the earrings, cut to shape from the mica shift decorated polymer clay
  • Place these on the complementary colored polymer clay and cut around them
  • Cut strips of polymer clay to make a bezel and fit this
  • Make a hanger for the earrings or make a hole to hang the earring fitting from
  • Bake the polymer clay pieces according to the manufacturers instructions
  • Finish as required
