Take a ball of polymer clay and condition it well. This means manipulating the clay until it is soft and malleable. Roll the polymer clay into a ball and place it on a flat work surface such as a ceramic tile. Use an acrylic block to flatten the ball of clay into a thick disc. The disc should be the size of the rubber stamped image plus an allowance for the edge (allow an edge of about 1/4 inches or 7.5mm).
Note: the amount of clay required will depend on the size of the finished medallion. I used about 1/8th of a 2 ounce block (i.e. 1/4 ounce or 7 grams) and the finished medallion is 2 inches wide.)
