Creative Stamping with Mixed Media Techniques by Sherrill Kahn works on several levels. Firstly it is an ideal book for stampers looking for a new challenge or who are looking for ideas for projects other then greeting cards. This is also a great book for crafters in general who are looking to incorporate rubber stamping into their work. Creative Stamping with Mixed Media Techniques covers many craft disciplines, all of which however, can easily be undertaken at home with basic crafting equipment.

There is a LOT of information in Creative Stamping with Mixed Media Techniques. Sherrill Kahn talks the reader through equipment, supplies and techniques as well as liberally scattering tips and ideas throughout the book. There are 20 different techniques that are explained in full along with 12 step by step projects for making items such as wall hangings, gift boxes, a pillow and a decorated flower pot. Every step and project is illustrated and there are many other photographs in the book clearly demonstrating different techniques or features. Each of these projects can be adapted and varied to include other techniques or for use on other materials. Sherrill Kahn also provides illustrated variations, for instance many of the techniques that are used to decorate a box can also be applied to use on other surfaces and this is demonstrated with an image of a decorated purse.

Creative Stamping with Mixed Media Techniques is definitely recommended for stampers who are looking to explore new stamping ideas and techniques. As the very title suggests the emphasis is on mixed and different media. This is not a book for stampers looking for run-of-the-mill stamped greeting card projects. The book is probably best suited to stampers who have some stamping experience – however general crafters new to stamping will find many of the projects accessible.

This is an interesting and inspiring book and is ideal for stampers looking to extend their craft.
