What types of designs do people create themselves and for what purpose?

It’s really easy to change the different fonts, borders, themes, and colors of the stamps, but many of them are already available in our large template gallery. But people have uploaded different logos and designs to make them unique. Usually it’s something simple, but different enough to stand out. Mostly we see stamps that are used for business purposest, but there have also been a vast number of home or craft related stamps made through our site.

What tips do you have for people looking to customize or design their own stamps?

The one pitfall that people sometimes fall into is trying to make their stamps a little too dynamic. The truth is that a rubber stamp only has so much real estate on it, and you can only do so much to make it unique or personalized. That’s not to say that they can’t be made to look unique, but you have to stay within the limits of the space, otherwise you might end up with a stamp that doesn’t print the way you thought it might. I would just say that when you’re designing a stamp, either on our site or somewhere else, make sure that you stay within the limits of the creative space. You can still make it your own with today’s design tools.

Pocket stamps are a neat innovation. Are they popular for any particular kinds of uses?

Typically our pocket stamps have been perfect for people looking to keep something in their purses or bags. So for the most part they have been something that is great for on the go types of people. We think of them as something mom’s can use easily by keeping them in their purse, so they can be pulled out when they are sending mail as a return address option or to personalize envelopes. But they can also be used for scrap booking and other crafts, because they are small and easy to design. They’re also a great option for a "junk drawer" where you can always keep it handy and ready to use.

Have you any plans to offer acrylic (clear) stamps in the future or do you feel that rubber stamps offer your customers the best option?

Right now we only offer the rubber stamps, but we are always looking to give our customers new and unique options. But right now we have no plans to offer acrylic stamps. For us it makes more sense to offer the rubber stamps, and that’s something that our customers have asked for.

What are the benefits of self inking stamps?

Well the most obvious benefits are that there is no accompanying ink pad to carry around, and that makes them much less messy in the long run. Particularly with pocket stamps, having to carry around a separate ink pad inside a purse or bag could get very messy. That was one of the things we had to consider when we first made the offer. It just made more sense for our customers, who always want things to be easy and simple to use. And in all of the VistaPrint stamps we use non-toxic, waterbased ink.
