Chalked Heart Card

Kate Pullen

This is a simple yet effective card that is created by gently coloring images that have been rubber stamped using clear embossing inks. The chalks adhere to the ink giving a darker line. The subtle tones have been achieved by using a variety of different colored chalks.

Two or three complementary colored chalks have been used to build the shades on the card. Where the colors overlap the chalks blend to create new shades. More dense colors can be achieved by continually working over an area with chalk.

Materials Required

  • Heart stamps - any stamps with a strong outline will work well.
  • Clear embossing ink
  • Chalks and applicator
  • Greeting card blank or piece of folded cardstock in white or a pale color (the finished effect can be altered by using different colored cards)
  • Fixative, if required, such as hairspray
