How to Use Washi Tape
Washi tape can be used in a variety of ways to add color and pattern to your rubber stamping projects. Bright colorful borders are easy to create with washi tape. However, it can also be used to add other embellishments and adornments. A small piece of washi tape can be used to adhere a piece of paper with a special message, for instance, to a handmade card or scrapbook page. Washi tape will also make an attractive way to close a gift bag or gift box. Use a printable gift box template
to make a gift box or gift bag from paper or card stock. Add a rubber stamp image or two and some washi tape as a closure for a quick way to make attractive handmade gift packaging. Tips for Using Washi Tape
Here are some tips for using washi tape in your rubber stamping and paper craft projects;
- Washi tape normally has a repeating decorative pattern on the surface therefore it is straightforward to match up designs. However it works well in more organic designs too and the torn edges can add additional decorative interest to your project.
- Washi tape is available in many different designs and color schemes. When you are starting, buy rolls of tapes in complementary colors and designs so you can mix and match.
- Experiment with stamping on washy tape. A permanent ink will be best suited to stamping on the surface of washi tape. A pigment ink may also be used depending on the surface of the washi tape you are using, however this will require heat embossing to seal the surface.
Washi tape is a versatile and fun product and works well with many rubber stamping projects.
