This card uses just chalks combined with a clear embossing ink to create a lovely subtle finish. The card can be adapted in a number of ways and personalized using your own choice of stamps and chalk colors. Any stamps can be used as the main requirement is for bold outlines that will complement the gentle colors of the chalks.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Quick
Here's How:
- Using the clear embossing ink, stamp hearts over the front of the card. Allow the hearts to over lap to give an all over pattern.
- Lightly rub the chalks over the front of the card to leave a dusting of color. Start with one color and brush color over a few random patches. Then, with another color, lightly brush this over some other parts of the card.
- Continue brushing over the stamped hearts with different colored chalks. Overlapping the different colored chalks will blend colors together creating new colors and depths.
- Gently brush off any loose specs of chalk dust. A spray of fixative or hairspray will ensure that the chalk does not rub off.
- Finish the card as required, perhaps with some stick on gems to provide some glitter to the finished card.
- This technique is easy to adapt, for instance three single heart stamps stamped in clear embossing ink could be colored in three different chalks. This would give a bold finished effect.
Tips:
- Gently brush the chalk over the stamped images, this will stop smudging the ink. However, interesting effects can be achieved by slightly smearing the ink as the chalks are brushed so it is worth experimenting!
- The clear embossing ink, as its very name suggests, is completely transparent and therefore to check where images have been stamped it might be necessary to hold the card up to a light. The light will reflect off the clear ink.
- Bold stamped outlines work best as very fine or detailed stamps may give a slightly blurred image.
What You Need:
- A greeting card blank or piece of folded cardstock
- Heart stamps - any type will work well
- Clear embossing ink
- Decorating chalks
