My favorite rubber stamp
I bought this foam stamp of a pawprint years ago at an arts and crafts exhibition. My apologies to whoever designed and created the stamp, but I've long forgotten.
Why I like this stamp
It's a clear, uncomplicated design that prints well every time (if I've inked it properly). Far easier to get a row of paw prints across a bit of fabric with this than a stencil.
It's a chunky foam stamp that's easy hold as I tap it onto a paint pad (shallow container with a lid, piece of cloth in the bottom, plus fabric paint) and then move to my fabric.
Tips and Tricks
- I find thicker stamps much easier to hold and work with; I'm less likely to get paint on my fingers when I press it into a paint pad.
- The stamp has a fairly high relief too, so I'm less likely to get paint on the "background" that I need to wipe off.

I have a small collection of rubber stamps I use for fabric painting.
I write the Painting section of About.com http://painting.about.com/ but my choice of favorite rubber stamp makes more sense if I mention that my personal studio has the word "cat" in its name and that some of my quilts feature cats.
