French Printable Sentiments - General Use

Kate Pullen
Add a little French inspired flair to your rubber stamping and paper craft projects! Here are some French free printable sentiments for you to download, print and add to your handmade cards, scrapbook pages or other projects. These are perfect for making a gift or card for a French speaker, to follow a French theme or simply to add a little 'Oh la la' to your projects.

How to Use the Free French Printable Sentiments

The French words that we've used are versatile and can be added to a variety of projects:
  • Voilà - this is a fun sentiment for a gift tag or scrapbook page
  • Bon appétit - use this as a sentiment to add to food themed stamped images or use this sentiment to add to a gift tag or bag topper for a hand baked gift
  • Bonjour - this greeting is great for handmade cards that you are making to say hello to someone or to let them know you are thinking of them
  • Au revoir - add this sentiment for projects where you are saying good bye and good luck to someone, perhaps to a colleague that is leaving work or a neighbor who is moving
Laura K. Lawless, About.com Guide to French Language, has more information on learning French including the lessons about the sentiments included on this printable page. This information can be found here - Voilà, Bon appétit, Bonjour and Au revoir.

Tips for Using Printable Sentiments

Printable sentiments are useful to add to rubber stamping and paper craft projects. They help to give your handmade card or scrapbook page a focus and are a particularly useful fall back should you not have appropriate rubber stamp sentiments to hand. Here are some tips for using these free printable sentiments:
  • Print the sentiments onto good quality paper, flimsy paper can detract from the finish of your project
  • Use decorative edge scissors to cut the sentiment out, this will give an attractive patterned edge
  • Ink the edges of the sentiment before attaching it to the card by rubbing an ink pad along the edges of the paper, this will help to create a coordinated look
  • Use thick double sided tape or glue dots to attach the sentiment to your project, this will help to make it stand out and add dimension to your work
