Non Stick Craft Sheet from Ranger Inks

Ranger Inks
The Non Stick Craft Sheet by Ranger Inks is much more than a highly versatile protective sheet. It also provides a convenient way to create great effects on paper and cardstock. The sheet is non porous, resistant to high heats and non stick, making it ideal for use in many rubber stamping projects.

So, how does the Non Stick Craft Sheet stand up in practice?

What is a Non Stick Craft Sheet?

As many stampers will know, rubber stamping can sometimes be a messy craft! Using different inks, direct to paper techniques, heat embossing, working with paints and hot glues can all create havoc with an unprotected work surface - and that's before we start working with products such as UTEE!

While a pile of old newspapers or a work cloth are fine for protecting a work surface, the Non Stick Craft Sheet from Ranger Inks has been designed specifically for this purpose. It measures 15" x 18" and is easy to store. The craft sheet is resistant to high heat, non porous and non stick. This makes it perfect for use in many stamping projects.

Unlike a pile of old newspapers, the Non Stick Craft Sheet is paper thin, therefore it is not bulky to work upon. The surface is slick and shiny giving it a pleasant feel.

Using the Non Stick Craft Sheet

There are many many ways that stampers can use the Non Stick Craft Sheet. It is an ideal protective surface to pop under most stamping projects. It really comes into its own, however, when working with messy techniques - and as any stamper knows, generally the messier the technique, the more exciting the project! The heat resistant surface is ideal for heat embossing and is also useful to put shrink plastic onto when shrinking. The fact that craft sheet is non porous also means that it makes a handy paint pallet. Dab a couple of colors of water color paint or ink onto the craft sheet and mix away!

The non stick surface also makes the Non Stick Craft Sheet great for use with different direct to paper techniques. As well as offering a great protective surface when using alcohol inks, the Non Stick Craft Sheet can actually help produce great effects. A few drops of alcohol ink, a spritz of rubbing alcohol and a swish of paper or cardstock creates interesting and unusual results. Another quick way to produce great effect is to rub a Distress Ink pad over the sheet before swishing a piece of crumpled paper over the surface. The sheet is also ideal for using with UTEE. Melted UTEE can be poured onto the Non Stick Craft Sheet. Quickly pressing a rubber stamp into the surface will leave an impression of the design and the UTEE is simple to peel off the sheet when it is cool. The sheet is easy to clean after use.

Conculsion

I love this craft sheet! For years I have taken the 'pile of newspaper' approach to crafting. The Non Stick Craft Sheet from Ranger Inks, however, has transformed me! There are a number of things about the craft sheet that I really appreciate. These include:
  • Portability - the craft sheet rolls up easily after use making it ideal for carrying around. It fits quite happily inside a work box.
  • Extremely robust - I've heated, folded, crumpled, doused, painted, inked and generally given the Non Stick Craft Sheet from Ranger Inks a hard time! It still looks good and unblemished after several months of use.
  • Versatile - I just love the way I can use the craft sheet for so many things. One of my favorites is using it as paint pallet when painting stamped images.
  • Easy to clean - paints and inks really do just wipe off!
  • Cost effective - while admittedly it is more expensive than a pile of cast off newspapers, the Non Stick Craft Sheet is not expensive. Using the craft sheet to protect surfaces such as a kitchen table also means that a stamper can work in more places around the house without needing a special work area.
No product is absolutely perfect and there are a couple of things that I think could enhance the craft sheet. I would welcome a larger size - while 15" x 18" is fine for many projects, a bigger surface to work on would be useful. I would also opt for a white sheet, given the choice between white and the current light brown. Saying that, these are two very minor points. I recommend the craft sheet to any stamper who is looking to protect
