Use Distressing Techniques to Give Vintage Style to a Rubber Stamping Project

Distressed doily

Add shabby chic style with a distressed doily background

Kate Pullen
Simple distressing techniques can transform a humble paper doily into a vintage style embellishment for rubber stamping projects. Distressing ages the doily and gives the impression of vintage lace. This is perfect for adding a bit of shabby chic or grungy texture to a background.

When the doily is finished it can simply be cut and adhered to paper and card to make textured backgrounds or small pieces of distressed doily can be added to projects as embellishments.

Any paper doily will work well. A doily is more fragile than paper therefore added care needs to be taken to avoid the lacy edge from tearing.

Shabby Chic Tag[/br] The tag in the picture has been created using a simple plain tag. The distressed doily has been adhered to the tag and a rubber stamped image placed over the top.
